Cash Balance.xls (2008) download
The unreserved cash balance for June is about $892,274 more than the same month last year. The larger cash balance this year is, at least partially, the result of higher property tax collections, better DNR Timber revenue, and the fact that the $500,000 loan to the Clocktower Fund was not repaid until late last summer.
General Sales Tax Receipts.xls (2008) download
May's receipts are down by 4.61% from the same month last year. Year to Date receipts are down by 0.07%; while the percent is small, this is the first time the YTD change has been negative in more than 5 years. We seem to be back in the "up one month, then down the next" cycle that we have been experiencing for most of the time since September of 2006.
Real Estate Excise Tax Receipts.xls (2008) download
May's receipts show a 38.65% decrease from the same month last year. Although March and April showed positive gains, May & June have fallen back into the more persistent pattern of decline that has been in place for most of the last 39 months. Year to Date receipts are down by 22.20%.
Hotel/Motel Lodging Tax Receipts.xls (2008) download
May's receipts show a decrease of 0.53% when compared to the same month last year. Year to Date receipts are up by 10.74%. The last 4 months of receipts have shown an aggregate decrease in revenue.

Sites to get other data
Many Communities and Counties prepare fact sheets with relevant community and economic information. These county/community profiles come in a
variety of shapes and sizes but the following represents a sampling of County profiles, or data that you might want to include in a profile. Obviously, thought should be given to the intended audience for the profiles before making a decision about what to include in your community profile.
The International Economic Development Council has actually given this issue a lot of attention and has developed a set of site selection data standards which include 25 tables containing approximately 1,200 data fields for state, county, metro, locality, building and site profiles. You can download the data standards worksheet in Excel format from their web site.
